(September 27, 2018) Schiffer Publishing has offered a contract for the current project under work, a book will be about Tiger tank crewmen during the German Offensive at Kursk, July 5-15, 1943. While there are many excellent books about Tiger tanks at Kursk, this will be the first that goes into depth on the enlisted men that crewed these behemoths and present a wealth of biographical information that will include previous experience on Tigers in particular and panzers in general, as well as training, how many men went on to be commissioned as officers and so forth. So far, based on over 165 men identified, analysis is showing numerous observations that are not intuitive, such as soldiers that had transferred from the Luftwaffe the month prior who now found themselves in combat with the ground forces in a Tiger for the first time when the offensive began. We have been fortunate enough to establish excellent relations with several noted authors both here in the U.S. and in Germany of books on Tiger tanks who are graciously providing assistance in this unique project. The book is to be submitted to the publisher in September 2019, with publication probably the following spring; and hopefully will have about 100 photographs of Tiger tanks and crewmen in action at Kursk.
